Those of you who were attending the Agape meals regularly will know that we learned to sing a new setting of the Sanctus and Benedictus. This setting is part of the Missa de Angelis, the “Mass of the Angels,” which was for a long time one of the best known plainchant settings of the ordinary of the Mass.
On Trinity IX (August 13), we will sing all of the movements from the Mass at the 10:30 Sunday service. To help you become more familiar with the Missa de Angelis, Sarah and I have recorded the Kyrie, Sanctus/Benedictus, Agnus Dei, and Gloria (without organ accompaniment). Soon we’ll record it with an organ accompaniment so you can hear what it will sound like in the service.
Finally, if you want to look at the music while listening to these recordings, you may print up your own copy with this PDF file (it is formatted for two-sided printing).
