“. . . speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
—Ephesians 5:19
Music is by nature and by divine command a central feature of Christian worship. When the members of a local congregation lift their voices in praise, petition, and penitence, they join with the whole Church — past, present, and future; in Heaven and on Earth — as well as with Creation and choirs of angels. Our song is first and foremost directed to our triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Ghost — whose love and power have made us and whose grace and mercy have redeemed us and make us new.
