Those of you who have been attending the Agape meals regularly will know that we have been learning to sing a new setting of the Sanctus and Benedictus. This setting is part of the Missa de Angelis, the “Mass of the Angels,” which was for a long time one of the best known plainchant settings of the ordinary of the Mass.
Last year, we sang the Kyrie from this mass, which we then sang in the Sunday service a few times. Now that we’re familiar with the Sanctus/Benedictus, we will sing that soon. Sarah has also been teaching the kids who come early on Sunday morning how to sing the Agnus Dei.
To help you become more familiar with the Missa de Angelis, Sarah and I have recorded the Kyrie, Sanctus/Benedictus, and Agnus Dei (without organ accompaniment). Once we get better organized, Wallace will record it with us so you can hear what it will sound like in the service.
