All Saints Anglican Church Nursery Policies
All Saint’s Anglican Church’s nursery provides a welcoming and safe place for children from birth to age three so that their families can participate more fully in service. We strive to give the babies and toddlers who are in the nursery a positive first experience of church and make All Saints a place that they love to come.
Hours: The nursery is open for the 10:30 am service on Sunday, during Wednesday evening Christian education classes (from 6:30-7:30), and for special events as announced. On Sundays, please come to the nursery at the beginning of communion to bring your child up for a blessing. If you do not come down, nursery volunteers will bring the children up and return them to you in your pew after receiving a blessing at the altar.
Illness: To help us keep other children well, please do not place your child in nursery if they have: fever (in the past 24 hours), vomiting and/or diarrhea (in the past 24 hours), eye discharge, questionable rash, excessive coughing, or any communicable disease. Please wipe the children’s hands with hand sanitizer upon entering the nursery.
Cleaning: The nursery room, chew toys and the snack blanket are cleaned every week.
Crying: If a child is crying and inconsolable, a nursery worker will retrieve a parent from the service.
Food: We will provide simple snacks for children over one year of age such as Goldfish, Cheerios or animal crackers. If you do not want your child to have a snack because of food allergies or any other reason, notify the nursery volunteers every time you drop them off as nursery personnel will change. We will also provide the children with water, if you would like to bring them a sippy cup.
Diaper bags: Please label your child’s diaper bag and put it on the hook inside the door. It would be helpful to pack a change of clothes, new diaper, and sippy cup with their name labeled on it.
Toys: In general, we ask that personal toys stay at home, but make exceptions as necessary, especially for special stuffed animals/blankets/lovies. At the end of nursery time, children will assist in clean up.
Sleep: The nursery is equipped with a Pack n’ Play for infants to sleep. The nursery cannot supervise babies sleeping in the office or other rooms (volunteers must be able to see the infant while asleep).
Diapers/Bathroom: Nursery volunteers will change dirty or wet diapers on the changing table in the nursery when necessary. Please check your child’s diaper before you drop them off, and have potty trained children go to the bathroom as well. Potty trained children will be taken to the bathroom when necessary by our female volunteers.
Child Information Sheets: We ask all families to fill out a short information sheet about each child they want to put in the nursery with information about allergies, age, special needs, etc.
Use of the nursery room: Children of all ages are welcome to use the nursery room when the nursery is not in session as long as toys are played with appropriately and put away when finished.
Cry room at the back of the sanctuary: This room is open to parents of both genders who would like to listen to the service without their children disrupting others. There is a monitor in that room that can be turned on for that purpose. Mothers may also nurse discreetly in that room, or in the nursery.
