Seven Sacraments – Weyden 1445

Mass Schedule –  Trinity 5 (July 5, 2015)

12, Feria
13, Feria
14, Feria
15, Feria
16, Feria
17, Feria

+ The word Feria is derived from a Latin word and it means literally “a free day,” and in antiquity a Feria was a day on which Romans, but especially slaves, were not obliged to work. As the Church grew the word was baptized to refer to days in which no specific saint’s feast was designated and thus the word took on liturgical meaning. There was a time in the Church when most saint’s days were thought of as “day of obligation” which meant that Christians were obliged to attend the mass on that day. Thus a Feria came to indicate a day in which the faithful were free from the  obligation to attend mass.

+ All Saints Men’s Group will met next on July 14, at 7:00 a.m. in undercroft.

+Our Monday Morning Bible Study will next meet at 10:00 a.m. on July 20 in the Undercroft.

+ The Holy Communion is celebrated this week Monday through Saturday at 12:15 p.m.

+ All Saints parishioner may obtain a Mass card from the Church office. A Mass card is a greeting card given to someone to inform him or her that a deceased loved one or friend was remembered and prayed for at a weekly Mass. It is a specifically Christian way to express one’s love. Call Julie McDermott at the Church office (434-979-2842) and she will help you fill out the form. The celebrant will sign the card and we will mail it from the Church to the family of the loved one.
