THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS

MASS SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK OF Trinity VIII (July 29, 2012)

30, Monday – Feria
31, Tuesday – Feria
1, Wednesday – St. Peter’s Chains
2, Thursday – Feria
3, Friday – St. Stephen

+ August opens with the celebration of the Feast of St. Peter’s Chains. The focus is upon the account given in The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 12. Herod had James, the brother of John, killed with a sword. Intending to have Peter killed, Herod has him arrested and thrown in prison. He was bound with two chains between two soldiers. An angel from God woke Peter and his chains fell off his hands. He and the angel walked out of the prison and Peter then went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark.

+ All Saints’ Men’s Group will meet July 31, 7:00 a.m. in the undercroft.

+ International Student Meeting – The world has come to our doorstep and we need volunteers to welcome overseas students who are entering UVA. All Saints’ Friendship Families and anyone else interested in reaching out to incoming students is welcome to join Bill Bray, president of Overseas Missions, for a special planning workshop on August 2 from 6-9 pm at Holiday Inn North, 1901 Emmet St. Speak to Bill Bray for more details.

+ Daily Mass is celebrated at 12:15 p.m. You and your family members are all remembered by name at the Altar of God every week. Please take an All Saints parish prayer list home with you & remember your fellow parishioners in your prayers!

+ All Saints parishioner may obtain a Mass card from the Church office. A Mass card is a greeting card given to someone to inform him or her that a deceased loved one or friend was remembered and prayed for at a weekly Mass. It is a specifically Christian way to express one’s love. Call Julie McDermott at the Church office and she will fill out the form for you. The celebrant will sign the card and we will mail it from the Church.
