Plan your visit
Welcome! We are delighted to have you visit and experience the beauty of Anglican worship. As you enter through the red front doors on Sunday morning, grab a bulletin which has the complete text of the service. Once seated in the pew, please take a few moments in quiet prayer to prepare yourself for the Mass.
Our worship service is a high liturgy, a structured and traditional style of worship, and it is both beautiful and reverent. As you listen to the liturgy, you will hear Holy Scriptures read as “lessons” and also as “propers” which are spread out throughout the service. The words the celebrant prays and chants come from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the Anglican Missal–many date back to the Early Church. As we join our voices in song, we use the 1940 Hymnal and worship with the richness of English church music. To learn more about the service, grab a copy of our Guide when you visit.
The service also contains a lot of movement: kneeling, standing, sitting, and making the sign of the cross. We worship with our heart, mind, and body! If you are unfamiliar with such a liturgy, you need not feel any pressure to join all these motions–simply observe and experience the service. At Communion, you may come to the altar rail to receive either a blessing (cross your arms over your chest) or the Blessed Sacrament (all baptized Christians may receive). You will notice that many parishioners dress in a “Sunday best” style – i.e., business casual. This is not mandatory, but many appreciate the opportunity to set the Sunday Mass aside from the rest of our week’s activities by dressing up.
After the 10:30 service, please join us downstairs for fellowship and “coffee hour” with snacks and drinks. We look forward to greeting you and answering any questions you have!
